Downtown Walking Tour
As we walk around special scenic areas of downtown Nantucket, we discuss how the island was first formed, the history of the Wampanoag Native Americans, the early European settlers, their farming efforts, and introduction to whaling by the Wampanoag. The tour includes a discussion of the how and why Nantucket became the whaling capital of the world, and the reasons why the industry declined over time. We cover the fascinating development of the island’s culture and heritage, and the rebirth of the island as a history and tourist destination both in the late 1800’s, early 1900’s and today.
Many guests combine both the walking and scenic driving tour together to gain the full historic and scenic perspective of Nantucket.
This tour takes approximately 2 1/2 hours. The fee for the tour is $50 per person per hour.
Requests for private walking tours will include an additional $10 per person per hour charge.

Payment Options
The fee for Discover Nantucket Tour and/or Nantucket Bike Tours is $50 per person per hour and we accept cash, Venmo or Zelle.
Requests for private group walking, biking or scenic driving tours will include an additional $10 per person per hour charge.
Deposit Requirement
For parties of 4 or more people a deposit of 50% is required in advance of your Discover Nantucket Tour and/or Nantucket Bike Tour scheduled date.
We accept payment by cash, Venmo or Zelle.
Cancellation Policy
Discover Nantucket and Nantucket Bike Tours will be cancelled in the event of extreme weather, but will operate rain or shine… Nantucket is called “The Grey Lady” after all.
We ask for a 50% deposit for tour parties of 4 or more and have a 48 hour cancellation policy, should you need to reschedule or cancel your booking. There are no refunds for cancellations made within 48 hours of the tour departure or for no-shows. Cancellation requests are required by email or phone.
Should your travel plans to the island be impacted by weather, we will make every effort to reschedule your tour. If we are unable to reschedule or you provide a cancellation request 48 hours before your tour, we will apply a credit for a tour at a later date in time.
